Does UP Accept Late Applications?
Generally, no. UP’s official guidance states that no late or walk-in applications are accommodated. Admission is based on a ranking system using final results, not on a first-come, first-served basis after the deadline.
That said, some unofficial reports each year mention a very short late-application window (sometimes just a single day) opening early in the new year, if specific programmes still have space. This is never guaranteed and varies from year to year.

Step 1: Choose Your Study Programme(s)

Step 2: Gather Your Documents
Prepare your documents in advance: certified ID, Grade 11 or Grade 12 results, and proof of income if applying for a fee waiver.
Step 3: Register on the UP Online Application Portal
Go to www.up.ac.za/online-application and register using a valid email address that you check regularly. This email will be used for all correspondence, and your student number (EMPLID) will be sent here upon successful registration of your application.
Step 4: Complete the Application Form
Fill in your personal details, academic history, and your two programme choices carefully.

Upload certified copies of your ID, academic results, and (if applicable) proof of household income for the application fee waiver.
Step 6: Pay the Application Fee
