myUMP Student Portal Guide – Login & Setup

The myUMP Student Portal is the official online platform used by the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) for student administration. Whether you are a new applicant or a registered student, the portal is where you will track applications, register for modules, access results, and pay fees.

How to Access the myUMP Portal

1. Go to the official UMP website: www.ump.ac.za
2. Navigate to the Student Portal or myUMP link in the menu
3. Click Login or New Student Registration

First-Time Login (New Students)

When you receive your acceptance letter from UMP, it will include:

• Your student number
• Your temporary password (or instructions to create one)

Steps to Log In for the First Time

1. Visit the myUMP portal
2. Enter your student number as your username
3. Use the temporary password provided in your acceptance letter
4. You will be prompted to create a new, secure password
5. Set up your security questions for password recovery
6. Log in with your new credentials

Tip: Use a password that combines letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using your name or student number as your password.

What to Do If You Forgot Your Password

1. Click Forgot Password on the login page
2. Enter your student email address or student number
3. Follow the instructions sent to your registered email
4. If you cannot access your email, contact the UMP IT Helpdesk directly

How to Complete Online Registration via the Portal

Once logged in:

1. Go to Registration in the portal menu
2. Confirm your personal and contact details are correct
3. Select your programme and academic year
4. Choose your modules for the semester
5. Review your module choices and submit
6. Download and print your Proof of Registration

Accessing Your Results

• Log in to the portal
• Go to Academic Records or Results
• Select the relevant semester or year
• Download or print your results statement

• A stable internet connection
• Updated web browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge recommended)
• JavaScript enabled
• Pop-up blocker disabled for the UMP portal domain
