TUT students use the ITS iEnabler Self Help system, also referred to as the TUT Student Portal or TUT4Life, for almost all administrative and academic tasks. Your student number serves as the username, and a PIN acts as your password. Once you’re in, the Self Help menu is where registration, results, and account details all live. This guide explains everything you need to know to get started.
Registering Through iEnabler
- Open the iEnabler portal and log in with your student number and PIN.
- Under the Student Web heading, select “Registration.”
- Confirm your personal details, then choose your modules. Remember that TUT requires registration at the start of the year for both year-long subjects and each semester’s modules separately.
- Submit, then print or save your Proof of Registration. Checking this document carefully matters, since it confirms you’re registered for the correct subjects for the year; an error here can cause problems later with fees or exam entry.
What Else the Self Help System Handles
Beyond registration, iEnabler’s Self Help menu covers most of what you’ll need as a student:
- Application and registration status. Track where your application stands, or confirm your registration went through correctly.
- Financial management. View fee statements, check your outstanding balance, and confirm payments have been allocated correctly.
- Academic records. Check semester marks, download official results statements, and review your full academic history.
- Document uploads. Submit certified copies of your ID, academic transcripts, or other required documents directly through the Self Help menu, in PDF format within the size limit shown on the upload page.
- Contact details. Keep your phone number and address current. This matters for receiving university data bundles and any time-sensitive communication.
Resetting a Forgotten PIN or Password
If you’re locked out, go to the iEnabler login page and select “Forgot PIN/Password.” Enter your student number, and instructions get sent to your registered email or mobile number to reset your credentials. If the page itself won’t load, try a different browser or clear your cache before assuming there’s an account problem.
Setting Up TUT4Life
Your TUT4Life account is TUT’s official student email, and it doubles as your login for several other systems. It gives you access to Microsoft 365 apps, Microsoft Teams, and the university’s online learning tools. Every TUT student receives one, used for all university communications, including registration confirmations, NSFAS updates, and exam notifications. Check it regularly, especially during registration and exam periods.
- Go to the TUT4Life Portal to access your email or reset your password.
- Use the same TUT4Life credentials to log into myTUTor, TUT’s learning management system, where course content, assessments, and communication with lecturers happen.
- Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on campus using your TUT4Life login as well.
For the smoothest experience on myTUTor, use Firefox or Chrome, and expect a delay of up to 24–48 hours after registering before your subjects fully sync on the platform. If subjects are still missing after that window, contact the myTUTor service desk directly rather than assuming your registration failed.
