How to Access the myUNISA Portal

  1. Go to the official UNISA website: www.unisa.ac.za
  2. Click on myUNISA in the top navigation menu
  3. You will be directed to the login page at my.unisa.ac.za

First-Time Login (New Students)

When you receive your acceptance letter from UNISA, it will include:

  • Your student number
  • Your myLife email address (format: studentnumber@mylife.unisa.ac.za)
  • Instructions for setting up your password

Steps to Log In for the First Time

  1. Go to my.unisa.ac.za
  2. Enter your student number as your username
  3. Use the default password provided in your acceptance communication (usually your date of birth in a specific format — check your letter)
  4. You will be prompted to create a new secure password
  5. Log in with your new credentials

Tip: Set up your myLife email immediately. UNISA sends all important communications — including NSFAS updates, exam results, and registration confirmations — to your myLife email address.


What to Do If You Forgot Your Password

  1. Click Forgot Password on the myUNISA login page
  2. Enter your student number
  3. Follow the prompts to reset via your myLife email or registered cellphone number
  4. If you cannot access either, contact the UNISA IT helpdesk directly

How to Register for Modules via the Portal

Once logged in and your offer is accepted:

  1. Go to myAdmin on the portal dashboard
  2. Select Registration
  3. Confirm your personal and contact details
  4. Browse and select your modules for the upcoming semester
  5. Review your module selection and the associated fees
  6. Submit your registration once the MIP (Minimum Initial Payment) has been paid
  7. Download and save your Proof of Registration

Accessing Study Materials

Once registered:

  1. Log in to myUNISA
  2. Go to myStudy or myModules
  3. Click on each module to access your official study guide, learning materials, and e-tutor discussion forums

myLife Student Email

Every UNISA student gets a free myLife email account (format: studentnumber@mylife.unisa.ac.za). This is your official UNISA email address and is used for:

  • All UNISA administrative communications
  • NSFAS funding updates
  • Exam timetables and results
  • Assignment submission notifications

Check your myLife email at least once a week, and especially during registration and exam periods.

  • A stable internet connection
  • Updated web browser: Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (recommended)
  • JavaScript enabled
  • Pop-up blocker disabled for the myUNISA domain
