TUT bills tuition per module rather than as one flat annual charge, which makes its fee structure different from most contact universities. Before registering, every student, new or returning, needs to settle a minimum initial payment of R1,500, and first-time applicants also cover a separate, non-refundable R240 application fee.
Registration Payment
The R1,500 counts as your first instalment toward the year’s tuition rather than a standalone charge on top of it, and it must reach TUT’s account via EFT at least 72 hours before you register.
- Skip registration after paying, and R220 of that amount is forfeited.
- Cancel before 29 February and you avoid liability for the year’s tuition, but still lose the same R220.
- Confirmed residence students pay a further R1,200 minimum before residence registration can go ahead.

No cash payments are accepted on campus. Students must use direct bank deposits, electronic transfers, or credit card payments, always using their student number as reference.
