UJ Available Courses – Full List of All Programmes & APS Requirements


UJ spreads close to 200 undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications across seven faculties and one college (the College of Business and Economics), spanning nearly every academic discipline from creative design through to engineering.


Admission comes down to your Admission Point Score (APS) plus specific subject requirements, with Life Orientation excluded from the calculation across every faculty.

Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment

One of the largest and most comprehensive engineering faculties in South Africa, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and modern infrastructure challenges.


Faculty of Health Sciences

Undergraduate programmes (selection):

  • Various clinical healthcare programmes
  • Health management and public health-focused degrees
  • Nursing-related qualifications

Dedicated to training healthcare professionals through clinical and research-focused training; some programmes require an interview as part of the selection process.


Faculty of Humanities

Undergraduate programmes (selection):

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA): General and various specialisations
  • Programmes across social sciences, languages, and communication studies

One of UJ’s largest faculties, focused on critical thinking, creativity, and social understanding.


Faculty of Law

Undergraduate programme:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB): Minimum APS 31 with pure Mathematics; Mathematical Literacy not accepted.

College of Business and Economics

Undergraduate programmes (selection):

  • BCom in Accounting
  • BCom in Finance
  • BCom in Management

Selected postgraduate programmes (later/different closing dates):

  • AdvDip in Business Management
  • BA Hons / BCom Hons in Human Resource Management
  • BCom Hons in Industrial Psychology, Financial Planning, Information Systems, Investment Management, Marketing Management, Strategic Management, Property Valuation and Management, Quantitative Finance
  • MCom in Accounting, Auditing, Computer Auditing, Finance, Financial Management, International Accounting, Investment Management, SA & International Taxation, Quantitative Finance
  • MCom/MPhil in Industrial Psychology
  • Master of Sustainability Management

These programmes have earlier or different closing dates than the standard 31 October undergraduate deadline. Always confirm the specific date for your chosen postgraduate programme.


Faculty of Science

Undergraduate programmes (selection):

  • BSc in Computer Science (requires pure Mathematics, not Mathematical Literacy)
  • Various BSc majors across the natural sciences

Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture

Undergraduate programmes (selection):

  • Various Art and Design diplomas and degrees
  • Architecture-related programmes

A creative portfolio may be required for design-related programmes, alongside academic requirements.


Faculty of Education

  • Bachelor of Education (BEd): various teaching phase specialisations

Postgraduate Programmes: General Requirements

UJ Digital & Extended/Bridging Programmes

UJ also offers Extended/Bridging Degree Programmes for students who don’t meet the standard APS for their first-choice qualification, providing a structured pathway into the full degree.
