Being accepted at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) is not the same as being registered. Registration is the step where you confirm your modules, obtain financial clearance, and officially become an enrolled UJ student. This guide explains the full process for 2027.
UJ registration happens entirely through uLink, and the university runs it on a first-come, first-served basis. Being admitted to a qualification doesn’t reserve your place until registration is actually complete. Before you begin, you’ll need a successful application, your minimum registration payment ready, and any outstanding documents on hand.

Step-by-Step Registration Process
Step 1: Log In to uLink
Go to ulink.uj.ac.za using your student number and password. First-time users must create a password and complete facial recognition verification via SMS.
Step 2: Access ITS iEnabler
Click the CLASSES tab, then “My Registration (ITS iEnabler),” then Registration on the left-hand menu.
Step 3: Accept POPIA Regulations
Read the POPIA (data protection) regulations and click “I Accept” to proceed.
Step 4: Verify Your Personal Details
Confirm your personal contact details, address details, and emergency contact information are correct and up to date.
Step 5: Generate a Proforma Statement (Optional)
If needed, generate a provisional Proforma fee statement to see an estimate of your costs before finalising registration.
Step 6: Obtain Financial Clearance
Before registration can be fully processed, you need financial clearance:
- NSFAS students: UJ automatically receives your funding information. You will not need to pay the minimum fee upfront. If your status shows “Pending” or “Provisionally Funded,” registration may be delayed until NSFAS confirms.
- Non-NSFAS day students: Pay the minimum fee of R5,560.
- Residence students (confirmed): Pay R9,270.
- Residence students (provisional/waitlisted): Pay R5,560.
- Returning NSFAS students with outstanding debt: Complete the Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD) process before registration is permitted.
Step 7: Select Your Modules
Work through the registration menu to select your modules for the academic year.
Step 8: Submit Your Registration
Once all steps are complete and financial clearance is confirmed, submit your registration.
Cancelling or Changing Your Studies
Requests for cancellation or change of studies from 9 February 2026 onward must be submitted to the relevant Faculty or College where you are registered, not through general admissions.
