UMP Registration Guide for 2027 Academic Year


After being accepted at the University of Mpumalanga (UMP), registration is the final step before you officially become a student. Missing the registration window means you lose your place, even if you were accepted. This guide walks you through the full registration process for 2027.


Difference Between Application and Registration

Many students confuse applying with registering. These are two separate steps:

Documents Needed for Registration

Bring or upload the following to complete registration:

  • Original and certified copy of your ID document
  • Certified copy of your matric certificate (new students)
  • Your acceptance / offer letter from UMP
  • Proof of payment of registration fee (or NSFAS approval letter)
  • Completed registration forms (available on the portal or at the campus office)
  • Two passport-size photographs
  • For residence: proof of accommodation booking or application

How to Register Online (myUMP Portal)

Step 1: Log In to the myUMP Portal

Access the portal at www.ump.ac.za using your student number and password.

Step 2: Accept Your Offer

Navigate to Applications > My Offer and click Accept. You must do this before you can proceed to registration.

Step 3: Go to Registration

Select Registration from the portal menu. Confirm all personal details.

Step 4: Select Your Modules

Choose the modules for the upcoming semester as recommended for your qualification. Do not register for modules you do not meet the prerequisites for.

Step 5: Confirm Your Fees

Review your fee statement. If you have NSFAS, confirm it is linked to your account. Otherwise, arrange payment before finalising registration.

Step 6: Submit Registration

Click Submit to finalise. You will receive a Proof of Registration which you can download and print.


How to Register In Person (Walk-in)

If you cannot register online, visit the UMP campus registration venues during the official registration period. Bring all original and certified documents listed above.

UMP registration venues:

  • Mbombela Campus — main registration hall
  • Siyabuswa Campus — satellite registration point

What Happens If You Miss the Registration Deadline?

  • You may register during the late registration window (February 2026)
  • A late registration fee will apply
  • Module availability may be reduced
  • After the final deadline, registration closes and you cannot enrol for that academic year

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I register if I have not paid my fees yet? You may be allowed conditional registration if you have an approved NSFAS application or confirmed bursary. Contact the UMP finance office to confirm.

Can I change my modules after registration? There is usually a short window after registration to make module changes. Check with your faculty administrator for the exact dates.

Do I need to re-register every year? Yes. All students must register for each new academic year. Returning students should register during the returning student registration period.
